“Tyrants In The House”
by Sky Sunlight Saxon and Flights
2006 song
The song "Tyrants In The House" leads off the 2006 Sky Saxon project of the same name, Tyrants In The House, credited to Sky Sunlight Saxon and Flights. It’s a heavily distorted guitar song, ultra-simple in its make-up: Sky’s voice, warbled and electronically processed, is mixed low. The voice is mixed with Ken Dembinski’s fuzzy electric guitar which darts around playing weird octave-jumping notes. Back and forth goes the chaotic guitar as Sky does his usual cosmic thing on top.
"Tyrants In The House", with its one-man-band studio feel and heavily processed sounds, recalls the 1991 CD Flashback that Sky Saxon recorded with Dana Smith. But "Tyrants In The House" is different, with its own vibe. Garage rock, but with an updated 2000s sound. The album was first released in 2006 and saw a wider re-release in 2009.
