“Sheba”
by Sky Sunlight Saxon
2005 song
A particularly Seeds-like vibe can be found on "Sheba", a lively song from 2005’s Transparency. Written by Sky Saxon with the whole band, "Sheba" is driven along with what sounds like an exact replica of Daryl Hooper’s keyboard. It supports the rhythm rather than decorating the place with bright colors, just as Hooper did on tracks like The Seeds’ great "Satisfy You".
The uncredited female singer, as heard on Transparency‘s "Alakazam" and "Hammer", shows up again on "Sheba" in an even more prominent role, trading phrases with Sky. Our hero, for once, sounds relatively together on "Sheba" while he improvises about the titular heroine, whom he likens to “an angel wolf, an angel child”. The drums on "Sheba" are particularly nice, forceful and varied without getting in the way.
