“Sha La La La It’s A Groovy Thing”
by Sky Sunlight Saxon and Fire Wall
1986 song
As might be gleaned from its title, "Sha La La La It's A Groovy Thing" is not a deeply lyrical song. It is, however, a fine psych-garage singalong by Sky Sunlight Saxon and his 1980s band Fire Wall, available on the 1986 album Destiny's Children.
Sky was jumping into the vibe of the sixties with both feet on the LP, and "Sha La La La It's A Groovy Thing" is part of that trip. Exactly what the object of his attention on the song is unclear but he obviously finds it inspirational – groovy even. The song is simple with ascending chords that pull it ever closer to heaven. Mars Bonfire’s day-glo keyboards throw even more light on the song, making it vibrate like a lava lamp up in her room.
"Sha La La La It's A Groovy Thing" also gave its name to the French version of Destiny's Children which was called ...A Groovy Thing.
