“Red Shoes High Sky Dancer”
by Sky Saxon
1992 song
The otherwise unavailable song "Red Shoes High Sky Dancer" appears on CD versions of the 1982 European LP Bad Part Of Town. The live recording, one of several that were added to the CD as The Live Album Bedtime, apparently dates from the 1980s or early 1990s. The band doesn’t sound like Fire Wall but this song was first available on the 1992 CD. The venue too is unknown. "Red Shoes High Sky Dancer" is in rough audio quality – bootleg level at best. Mostly what you hear is the hiss of overloaded (and wildly assaulted) drums.
In fact, the whole anonymous band, as well as Sky Saxon, are ‘assaulting’ this song. "Red Shoes High Sky Dancer" may merely be a big fat one-chord jam but it’s a ferocious one. The guitar belches out angular and tortured heavy metal solos while the drums pound away (was the kit intact after this or lying in ruins?). Sky chants the title and other indiscernible phrases over and over like a madman possessed. What it lacks in sound quality it makes up for in energy, and then some.
