“Paisley Rocker”
by Sky Sunlight Saxon/Fire Wall
1988 song
Just when they wanted to make fun of Sky Saxon for being a burned-out relic from the sixties he puts out a song called "Paisley Rocker" with his energetic 1980s band Fire Wall, daring you to do just that. Sky is unapologetic about what he sees as the power of the decade in which he came to (and fell from) fame. The lyrics of 1988’s "Paisley Rocker" use the popular hippie fabric pattern as a symbol of psychedelia, and the opportunities that may be found within it. Sky, in a burst of circular near-understandability, wants to “put on my paisley and rediscover what the world has barely seen.” And he doesn’t care a whit if you think it’s silly. It’s too bad that not all artists can be this self-satisfied and at peace with their muse.
"Paisley Rocker" was issued on the 1988 album World Fantastic, and on vinyl and CD in France on the ...In Search Of Brighter Colors album.
