“Out Of The Question”
by The Seeds
1965 song
The Seeds song "Out Of The Question" was released on the 1967 album Future. It is a furious punk song with shouted vocals and a breathless pace.
This recording was two years old when it was chosen for inclusion on the album, and in fact had already been released as the B-side of the later-renamed “You’re Pushin’ Too Hard”.
For this reason, the 1965-era "Out Of The Question" doesn’t really fit in the narrative established on Future by the preceding tracks, which were all intensely and ornately psychedelic.
But it doesn’t really matter; Future‘s strength is its eclectic nature, and "Out Of The Question" is so great it would be a highlight of any album by anyone. It is one of The Seeds’ most impressive accomplishments, a punk performance perhaps unequaled by the band elsewhere.
