“In Love With Life”
by Stars New Seeds with Rainbow Starburst
1977 song
A great blast of dusty rock guitar and forward velocity, "In Love With Life" opens Sky Saxon’s 1977 7″ EP with vigor and panache. The project, a collaboration between Sky and guitarist Rainbow Starburst, was credited to Stars New Seeds. "In Love With Life" is endless fun, the kind of song you can either play air guitar to or just sit back and let the psychedelic single guitar string notes wash over you.
Whichever you do, you won’t escape Sky Saxon’s breathless panting and vibrant singing on "In Love With Life". He goes for broke on this performance and it shows that the erstwhile Seeds star could still get it done. That "In Love With Life" came out in the big year of disco is Exhibit A for why 1970s punks, who may have had no time for hippiedom, could rally behind Sky Saxon anyway.
This recording of "In Love With Life" has been reissued a couple of times over the years. In 1984 it showed up on the Starry Ride mini-LP, titled "I'm In Love With Life". Then in 1998 the song was added to the Related Singles CD of the God & Hair box set; here it was titled "I Am In Love With Life" and credited to World Peace Band.
