“Fools On Capital Hill”
by Sky Saxon and The Seeds
2004 song
"Fools On Capital Hill" is a great song on a great album. Sky Saxon’s first real new music in a decade was 2004’s Red Planet, an inspired collection of shimmering psychedelic garage rock. Although credited to The Seeds, Sky is in fact the only original Seed on "Fools On Capital Hill".
The song finds the new older and wiser Sky tackling politics and social issues, something he rarely dealt with conspicuously before. "Fools On Capital Hill" (probably an erroneous title; Congress in Washington, D.C. is referred to as Capitol Hill) rages against a plutocracy that governs a nation where some people don’t even have basic needs.
