“Celebration”
by Fire, Water, Air
1977 song
The final track on Golden Sunrise, the 1977 album by Fire, Water, Air, is quite a trip. Ten minutes of convincing religious cult chanting, "Celebration" sounds like an actual field recording of a primitive psychedelic pagan tribe. A screechy violin sound adds color to the clip-clop rhythm and the ecstatic murmurings of the devotees. Everyone is too far from the microphone, including Sky Saxon who is audible during the first several minutes. "Celebration" is not a conventional song like the rest of Golden Sunrise but does remain a favorite of some fans, a truly unique psych nugget. At any rate, "Celebration" is one of only four songs on the album with Sky Saxon on them.
