“Black & Red”

by Sky Sunlight Saxon Dragonslayers SSS
1989 song

If an album’s leadoff track is supposed to set the tone then "Black & Red" serves notice that Just Imagine is going to be a wild ride by some genuinely crazy people. Sky Sunlight Saxon Dragonslayers SSS (for that is the hefty name of the band this time around) explode out of the speakers on "Black & Red". If the angry, fuzzy metal guitar doesn’t grab you then the barbaric battle cries of the band will.

"Black & Red" steps away from the 1960s-nostalgia of Fire Wall and a little closer to “mere” hard rock. Mars Bonfire has been retained for this new project, however, and his beeping keyboard chords help ease the transition somewhat. The Dragonslayers were a great band, which is a good thing – only musicians this talented can make Sky comfortable enough to truly go out of his head. This is a terrifying mission statement from a bunch of guys with nothing to lose and nothing to prove.
