“101 Colorized Bottles”
by Sky Saxon and The Seeds
2004 song
Sky Saxon’s 2004 album Red Planet begins with the blast of garage-fuzz guitar and shiny keyboards that is "101 Colorized Bottles" and it’s amazing. The amped-up band (credited as The Seeds, but all new guys) hits the ground running and never lets up.
So noisy are the proceedings on "101 Colorized Bottles" that Sky Saxon’s weary voice is in constant danger of sinking into the chaos. But of course, Sky is a fighter and he holds his own, howling the song’s angry message (“why baby, why baby can’t you see?!”) from his corner while sparring with the band in a bout of brotherly love.
With an opening salvo like this is it any wonder that the rest of Red Planet satisfies unreservedly?
