Fallin’ Off The Edge cassette
by The Seeds
1987 cassette tape
Label: GNP Crescendo [GNP5-2107]
GNP Crescendo released their 1977 Seeds rarities compilation Fallin' Off The Edge as a cassette tape in 1987. It’s a nice package, with a custom orange cover framing the square album art. The spine is bold white text on a fiery red background. Both of these choices are apparently a thoughtful nod to the original LP cover, which featured the band name in orange and the album name in red.
The catalog number of the Fallin' Off The Edge cassette is rendered GNP5-2107 rather than the expected GNPS-2107 which was the number of the vinyl LP; this was most likely an error. (The cassette version of The Seeds’ 1966 debut album sports a similar typo.)
The songs are in the same order as the original LP, and are listed on the back of the cassette’s J-card insert (not on the front). The final song on side 2 (or “Program 2” as it’s rendered here) "Pushin' Too Hard" (1968 version) is not visible when the cassette case is closed.
Our copy of the Fallin' Off The Edge cassette is still sealed and we haven’t opened it up to see the actual cassette tape. We assume it’s a white-shell tape like the others, but that’s only a guess.
